OK, this might not sit well with the sellers of this product, but it is my experience. While the water fountain works nicely, I have found that rather than filtering out slime, the filters actually promote slime. My older male cat drinks a lot of water. He is good at communicating to me when he is not happy with the quality of the water in the fountain. He stands next to it and just looks at me. I wash the fountain every two days, and it was always slimy when I was using the filters. At one point, I ran out of the filters and was waiting for a re-supply. I washed the fountain as usual, and found it to be not slimy. I only put tripple filtered water in to the unit and to my surprise, after not having a filter for a few days, there was no slime. This has been the case for several weeks now, and I am off of the idea that the filters do anything good, and perhaps they are not good.
